Investments in bauxite industry will see more opportunities in the mining town of Linden

Dear Editor,
Residents of Linden, in fact the entire country, received some positive news last week regarding the expansion plans of a major bauxite company. The fact that the bauxite industry will receive a much-needed boost when Bosai Minerals Group Guyana Incorporated (BMGGI) begins an approximately US$ 100 million expansion will help to further transform the mining town. This is certainly good news for Guyana.
It was announced by the authorities that BMGGI will soon be undergoing a massive expansion, which will result in hundreds of persons being employed at the bauxite company. These expansion plans include securing an additional area for the mining of ore and the construction of a third kiln. These projects are estimated to cost US$ 40 million and more than US$ 57 million respectively, a total of some US$ 100 million.
With the initiation of these two mega projects, the company will be moving to market two new products on the market: multite and proppants, products which will increase the company’s revenues.
Editor, I am sure you will agree with me that as Bosai continues to develop, Region 10, in particular the mining town of Linden, will begin to see the many opportunities being created during and after the company would have pumped that huge sum of money into developmental activities.
You may recall that for a very long time residents of Linden have been complaining about the limited opportunities, but now with this level of investment by Bosai, this is likely to change. It is certainly my hope that the government and the Region 10 administration will work together to bring more new investors to the region. The possibilities are many, Linden is an area blessed with many resources, and it is now for us to market what we have.
Yours truly,
J Smith
